I'm A Big Boy, Look What I Can Do
So I've finally mastered the art of sitting and mommy and daddy are so proud. I have to tell you, it gives me a whole new perspective on life -- and everything else for that matter. I'm still a little wobbly sometimes, but I've found that using my hand to prop me up solves that issue. It's also made typing easier too. It was such a pain to try and lay on my stomach and do it. As you can see, I stole my daddy's hat for this picture. I think it looks better on me anyway.
Santa ... I KNOW HIM. I KNOW HIM
My mom, dad and my uncle Tom took me to see Santa Claus. I wasn't sure what a Santa Claus was, but now I can tell you he's bright, hairy and awesome. As you can see, I was happy to meet him. The only complaint here is that he didn't even ask me what I want for Christmas, but I couldn't tell him anyway so what's the difference? My dad did promise Santa that we would leave milk and cookies out for him. I hope he knows I'm going to be in Indiana on Christmas Eve. But he is Santa and mom tells me he knows and sees all. That's a little scary, but I met the guy and he's OK in my pop-up book.
Giving Thanks
I just had my first Thanksgiving and like they say, it was all gravy. My grandma and grandpa, my uncle Tom and my great aunt Linda all came to see me, mommy and daddy -- well, really they just came to see me. While all the big people got to have turkey, mashed potatoes and dessert, I was stuck with applesauce and a bottle. Wonderful. But I did realize that I have a lot to be thankful for, like my family, football and absorbent diapers.

A Rosey Forecast

So, my first Ohio State-Michigan game rocked! I go to set on my dad's lap and watch the game and I got to do it with no pants on (me, not my dad). The going was a little slow early on because of the field conditions, but the Buckeyes rode Chris Wells to a guaranteed spot in the Rose Bowl. So while the Bucks have moved on to a BCS berth, I have moved on to squash. It's not as enticing as green beans or peas but they're still better than a bottle. So I've been told in two days we're going to have turkey. Mom told me if I trace my hand on paper it looks like a turkey, so I guess the big people are going to eat something that looks like my traced hand. I don't know. It will proabbly be squash again for me!

O-H-I-O
So my dad was filling me in on this Ohio State-Michigan rivalry: and I can't wait to see The Game for the first time. All I can say is, if my nearly six months have taught me anything, those Wolverines are some serious poopie heads. I was thinking over this matchup while chowing down on some sweet potatoes today and here's my official breakdown on how things will go down in The Big House: from what I've seen, the Wolverines offense has been favoring the passing game of late, and with Ohio State's propensity for rush defense (No.1 in the nation), Michigan will once again have to stretch the field to set up the run. But Malcom Jenkins should be able to bottle up Mario Manningham, meaning the good guys will make it four straight over Michigan. The score: 27-24, Ohio State. Something tells me I'll be toasting a bottle to Jim Tressel around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

It's Beginning To Feel A Lot Like November
So on an excursion to the mall this evening, my parents and I stood in line -- actually back that sentence up a little bit. My dad had me strapped to the front of him and he and my mom stood in line at Build A Bear Workshop and we made a Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (which you can see standing guard over me while I was sleeping). The worker had my mom step on a pedal that filled Rudy Mac up with stuffing, then mom and dad put a heart from each of them inside the reindeer. His nose lights up when you press his ear and I can't stop staring at it! Mom tells me I'm going to get to sit on a Santa Claus' lap. I'm not sure what that is, but I like to sit up and they said I can take Rudy Mac with me, so I'm kind of getting excited about this Christmas thing. Plus, dad tells me there's this really great Chipmunk's song I'm going to dig!
Where Have You Gone Patrick Swayze?
So I'm not calling my dad a Patrick Swayze-phile, but in my short months he's made me watch Point Break, Red Dawn and this evening, he and mom just had to watch the climactic scene from Dirty Dancing. So I'm going to ask the burning question here: what in the world happened to this guy? Did he get engulfed by some black hole at the end of the 80s or something? A quick look at Swazye's IMDB profile only beefs up my theory that this guy has, in fact, gone all Sam Wheat on us and turned into a ghost. I'm a little perplexed ... and scared because I heard my dad telling mom that To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar is going to be on AMC real soon. H-E-L-P!

One Little Monday Morning Quarterback

So I'm at a loss for words here (not that I can speak anyway), but I can't believe the Colts, the world champion Colts, lost the battle of unbeatens with the Patriots. What was with the defense in the last 10 minutes? I absolutely can't fathom why they allowed Randy Moss to get into one-on-one coverage. What were they thinking? I'm stunned, perplexed and if you can't tell, a little agitated, but my heart is still with the boys in blue and white.
I'm A Little Ticklish
Someone tell my daddy to leave me alone! I can't fend for myself, but it doesn't stop him from getting me over and over again and all mommy does is sit there with a camera filming it and does nothing to help. Just wait till I can take care of myself then I'll show him ... oh, who am I kidding? I love it!

M-I-C-K-E-Y ...

I had my first Halloween and my mom and dad dressed me up as Mickey Mouse (since I got to go down to his house in Florida and see him this summer) and my grandma came down to see me. I didn't get to go around and Trick-Or-Treat because it was wayyyyy past my bedtime. But at least I looked cute, which is more important than candy anyway -- at least when you're only five months old! On a side note: there were no tricks or treats for me, but I did leave a couple of treats for my parents in my diaper.

Diggin' On Solids
Some of you may have seen my first eating pictures, but here's the real deal. Yes, I've entered the world of solids and as you can see, I'm digging it. Right now I'm stuck in the green beans/peas department, but I went to Target today and saw that they have sweet potatoes, bananas, peach cobbler and even turkey and gravy, which I'm hoping to graduate to by Thanksgiving (but I'll keep sucking my fingers on that one!). Enjoy the movie and if you've got any pureed food to eat while watching, well, that's all the better!

I'm No Hallow-weenie
So mom and dad took me to my first pumpkin patch, which is actually next to Hooters -- who knew? We helped out the Shriners, which is a nice feeling and I got to take home five pumpkins (two of which are way bigger than I am!). The sun was raging that day, so I had to do a little scrunching, but there was no way I wasn't posing with these big orange things. Mom says we have to carve them -- I'm not sure what that means, but I hope there's a bottle involved! A little side note: the guy who sold us the pumpkins gave my mom candy and said since I can't eat it that she should. Uh, ever hear of asking me first? Who says I don't want a bag full of treats?
A Few Thoughts on Sleeves
Since it's become slightly cooler out, my parents have been putting long-sleeved shirts on me and I have to confess -- they are delicious. At first I was frustrated because I am so used to putting my hands in my mouth and these things were in the way, but the first taste hooked me and I am so not looking forward to it warming up. If you haven't tried it yet, I suggest you do yourself a favor and put your sleeve in your mouth. The wetter the better is my mantra!
Welcome To Jack's World

This will be your one-stop destination for all the happenings in my daily life and any specific topics I feel like rambling about (i.e. diaper rash, less-than-desirable formulas, etc.). I promise to keep it fun, snugly and way too prepubescent (just like me!). To tide you over until I do something cute, here's a precious picture ... Enjoy!
